Madhu Chopra said that her son Siddharth Chopra decided to call off his wedding to Ishita Kumar because he wasn’t “ready” for marriage yet. While speaking to an entertainment portal, Madhu Chopra explained the reason in a line without divulging details. Siddharth and Ishita’s roka was held in New Delhi in February while his sister, actress Priyanka Chopra was in Mumbai in April for their wedding.
"My son Siddharth said he was not ready for marriage yet. He explained he needed more time,” Madhu Chopra told the portal. Over the weekend, Madhu Chopra, while speaking to another entertainment portal, had confirmed that Siddharth and Ishita’s wedding had indeed been called off.
"They (Siddharth and Ishita) have mutually called it off,” she had said. While several quarters insisted last month that their wedding was called off, sources told a leading daily that it was postponed since Ishita had to undergo an “emergency surgery”.
Yes, Ishita did undergo a surgery, that’s true as she posted a picture from the hospital on Instagram.
Reports of Siddharth and Ishita’s wedding being called off gathered momentum after Ishita posted a picture of herself at a restaurant with the caption: "Cheers to new beginnings. With a goodbye kiss to beautiful endings."
Her parents' comments on the image added fuel to the speculations. Ishita's mother Nidhi Kumar wrote: "Close old book and write", whereas her father wrote: "We are with you; Feel the expanse of the universe and be the star you were born to be." Ishita, in fact, has also deleted pictures from her roka on Instagram.
Priyanka, in fact, had also shared pictures from Siddharth’s roka and congratulated them on Instagram:
