Tiger Shroff during a promotional interview for his upcoming campus romance drama Student Of The Year 2 said he is feeling the pressure of box-office numbers owing to his debut in the genre. Tiger, known for action-centric films like the Baaghi franchise, informed a leading daily that Student Of The Year franchise isn't his 'home ground' and added that he has to take the legacy that began with Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra in 2012 forward with debutante girls Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday.
"I am completely alien to this world. It is something that Varun, Sidharth and Alia started with, and made successful. I am taking their legacy forward with Tara and Ananya. I surrendered myself completely to my director and producer. Unlike the Baaghi franchise, this isn't my home ground. My last film, Baaghi 2 collected Rs 165 crore, so I am feeling the pressure of box-office numbers," Tiger told the leading daily.
Giving an insight regarding the reason for taking up a film that sets him out of his comfort zone that had been created in his four-year-old career, Tiger said the idea was to break the stereotypes that surrounded him. "It will be nice to strip me off my powers. In SOTY 2, I will be seen as a regular boy for a change. I will bleed when someone punches me and cry when someone bullies me. So, the idea was to break the stereotype that I am a one-man army and a killing machine, which has been my image in most previous outings," Tiger told.
Tiger fans, not to worry, we shall, however, get to see the Baaghi actor perform a few action scenes, very much to our delight. Assuring action scenes in the film, Tiger said, he can't detach action and dance completely as he doesn't want to disappoint his little fans who love to see him perform daredevilry stunts and bash up the evil doers. "My primary audience are the single-screen audience and kids. They love to see me do action and dance. I can't detach from it completely. So, Punit Malhotra had to tailor certain things in the script, keeping my fans in mind," Tiger added.
Talking about Student Of The Year 2, which will release within merely four days in theatres, will introduce Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday to the classroom of films. Directed by Punit Malhotra, of I Hate Love Stories fame and will be bankrolled by Karan Johar under the banner of Dharma Productions. The film also co-stars Aditya Seal and Samir Soni in principle roles.
