Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has always shown his big-heartedness when it comes to supporting causes. Be it his contribution to the Kerala Floods or his decision to extend a helping hand towards the victims of Chennai floods earlier, he doesn't back from doing his bit in every way possible. Recently, he also donated Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the victims of cyclone Fani in Odisha. Add to this, Akshay's relentless efforts to pursue the cause of looking after martyred soldiers’ families through Bharat Ke Veer is known to all. In fact, after the Pulwama attacks in February, he had urged fans to contribute to Bharat ke Veer to support the families of CRPF troopers who were killed in a suicide bomb attack.
Now on Tuesday, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, came out in support of Akshay's efforts and tweeted, "Dear @akshaykumar ji, no one can question your patriotism. Your motivation to our Armed Forces personnel and the way you generated funds for our martyrs through #BharatKeVeer programme will remain an example for every patriotic Indian."

In his response, Akshay tweeted, "Thank you so much @KirenRijiju Sir, and I apologise for the delayed response. I am grateful for your kind words. Please be assured, my commitment to #BharatKeVeer and to the Indian armed forces would remain steady, no matter what".

For the unversed, Kiren's comment on Akshay's patriotism comes days after civilians of India questioned why Akshay didn't cast his vote during the Lok Sabha Election 2019 that was held in Mumbai on April 29. Later, the actor broke his silence on his Canadian passport row by tweeting that this matter is 'personal, legal and non-political and of no consequence to others'.
