Tara Sutaria, whose debut film Student Of The Year 2 released today, was also one of the final contenders for the role of Princess Jasmine in Will Smith's live-action remake of Aladdin but that didn’t turn out because she came to Mumbai to shoot for her first film. The irony of the story, though, is that she ended up shooting with Will on the sets of SOTY 2.
"The universe has such a weird sense of humour. I was training with Guy Ritchie (director) for many months. We were doing workshops in London. Will had come on board the film, and we were to meet him soon. But then, I ended up coming to Mumbai and doing SOTY 2 instead. Funnily, Will came to shoot with us," Tara told a leading daily.
Will shot with team SOTY 2 – including Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara – for his show Bucket List but it is yet unclear whether he, indeed, makes an appearance in the film.
Speaking of her rapport with Ananya and Tiger, Tara said that she didn’t face any complex working with celebrity kids. Tiger is Jackie Shroff’s son while Ananya is Chunky and Bhavana’s Panday’s daughter.
"I don't have that complex. Are we silly enough to believe the audience will accept untalented people? Show business is competitive and brutal; anyone who doesn't deserve to be here, won't be. It's up to us to make it inclusive,” Tara added.
SOTY 2, directed by Punit Malhotra, released today.
