Avengers: Endgame director Joe Russo has said that Robert Downey Jr deserves an Oscar more than anyone else in the world right now. As the Infinity Saga comes to a close after 22 films, Endgame directors Joe and Anthony Russo think that it is time that Robert gets his due.
Robert has been at the center of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU, since it began in 2008, with Tony Stark aka Iron Man in 10 different films. However, the quirky sarcastic character Tony Stark breathed his last in Avengers: Endgame, after eradicating Thanos.
In a recent interview, Joe said he would like to see Robert get nominated for Best Actor Oscar at the 2020 Academy Awards for playing the role of Iron Man since 2008. "His cumulative body of work from these movies is staggering. If you look at the work over just even the last four (Marvel) films he’s done, it’s phenomenal. He deserves an Oscar perhaps more than anyone in the last 40 years because of the way that he has motivated popular culture, it’s heartbreaking. He has the world in tears right now," Joe said.
Robert has been nominated in the past but hasn't won yet. Meanwhile, Avengers: Endgame is breaking records left, right and center worldwide and trade experts are eager to see if it will emerge as the highest-grossing Hollywood film in history.
