Akshay Kumar has found unconditional support from Anupam Kher after he mired himself in a controversy for not voting in the Lok Sabha Elections. After Akshay was censured by several quarters for refraining from exercising his vote for the General Elections, he issued a statement saying that he holds a Canadian citizenship and had expressed "disappointment" that the issue is "constantly dragged into needless controversy".
In a tweet, Kher wrote that he had been reading about Akshay explaining the matter to “certain people” about his “loyalty” towards the country. “Stop it! Their real profession is to make people like you & me feel defensive for talking in favour of India. You are a doer. You don’t need to explain to anybody,” Kher added in his tweet.
Akshay noted Kher’s words and thanked him “for being more of a friend than a colleague”.
