Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are all set to reunite for Ali Abbas Zafar's period drama Bharat, which is slated to release on Eid this year. As part of the promotional rounds, we hear that the two stars will be promoting their upcoming film during the final match of Indian Premier League this year. Reportedly, Salman and Katrina will host a special segment during IPL 2019 and also appear in various promos during the live telecast of the final match, to be held on May 12.
"IPL is one of the biggest and most expensive cricket shows and the final gets maximum eyeballs. The producers of Bharat, Atul Agnihotri and Nikhil Namit have come up with a brilliant IPL-integration marketing scheme. Instead of going on the field, they will be seen live at a studio, as going on the field would have become a security issue," a source close to the development told an entertainment portal.
It seems the makers are trying a a different strategy.to promote the film rather than conducting usual events. "Salman and Katrina will host a segment together in the IPL and Salman has already shot for the main ad which will be shown on Star Sports network over the weekend. One more ad featuring kids and Bharat will also be aired. Apparently, the ads were shot keeping Bharat as the theme and have a powerful message. Right now, the channel and everyone associated with it has been instructed to be tight-lipped about it till the promo is aired," added the source.
Furthemore, Bharat producer Nikhil Namit confirmed the news and stated, "Yes, Salman and Katrina will host the show live and it’s an unusual strategy implemented by team Bharat. It’s like our strategy of having the Bharat trailer attached with Avengers: Endgame, the biggest Hollywood film, to get maximum eyeballs to watch our film. It worked and now the next step is television and what can be bigger than the IPL?" He feels thatintegrating IPL with Bharat is an exciting way to promote the much-awaited film.
Apart from Salman and Katrina, Bharat also stars Nora Fatehi, Tabu, Jackie Shroff and Sunil Grover in vital roles.
