Akshay Kumar is well known for his patriotic films in recent times that have managed to rake in the moolah at the box office as well as spread a message. The actor has also wholeheartedly done his bit to support India’s armed forces through the Bharat Ke Veer app. He was probably the first celebrity to donate a heavy amount for the Pulwama martyrs and now has donated Rs 1 crore to the PM’s relief fund for the people of Odisha who have been affected due to cyclone Foni.
Irrespective of his charity work and ardent patriotism depicted through his films and affiliations Akshay was targeted recently for holding Canadian citizenship. The actor had to issue a statement about the same and found support in Anupam Kher and Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju. Now, director Rohit Shetty has also come out in support of Akshay and has said that Akshay’s citizenship issue is an irrelevant controversy and it will soon be forgotten.

In a recent interview, when Rohit was asked about Akshay’s citizenship issue, he said, “Akshay Kumar, Akshay Kumar hi rahega, unki yeh aadat hai ki who publicize nahi karte jo woh donate karte hain. Yeh issue 48 hrs mein khatam ho jayega. Yehi Facebook par ya Twitter par koi aur bakra ban jayega, koi aur troll ho raha hoga. Har aadmi apne aap ko sahi dikhane ke liye social media par dusre ko galat sabit kar raha hai. Usse kuch farak nahi padta.”
#AkshayKumar does hidden work and doesn't tell it to media. Respect for this man has reached another level. #RohitShetty said that " har aadmi apne aap ko sahi dikhane ke liye dusre ko troll Kar raha hai" very well said to liberals!

Akshay and Rohit are teaming up for the film Sooryavanshi that is an extension of the cop universe created by the latter. The film also stars Katrina Kaif in the lead.
