It is rightly said that nobody can take a mother’s place in a child’s life. A mother is the child’s first teacher as well as the primary caregiver. However, single parenthood is always tough, no matter whether you’re a father or a mother. But these single Bollywood moms can definitely set up a great example for all other single parents out there. These Bollywood moms are so inspiring that there are a lot of things that parents can learn from them.
On Mother’s Day here’s a look at these celebrity moms who have done a great job of raising their kids single-handedly.
1.Neena Gupta
At a time when having a child out of wedlock was not only frowned upon but downright ostracized, Neena Gupta gave birth to Masaba Gupta. Masaba is her daughter with former West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards. She did a swell job of raising Masaba who is now a hotshot fashion designer of repute.

2.Sushmita Sen
Sushmita Sen is well-known for fighting a legal battle to adopt a child. She adopted Renee at the young age of 25 and proceeded to adopt Alisah in 2010. She broke all stereotypes by adopting the girls while she was single. She is definitely an inspiration to all the women out there who want to experience motherhood without a partner.
3.Sarika
Sarika gave birth out of wedlock to Shruti Haasan in 1986 while she was in a relationship with Kamal Haasan. However, the couple tied the knot two years later in 1988. Akshara Haasan was born after that. However, Kamal and Sarika soon parted ways in 2004 and ever since then she has been taking care of Shruti and Akshara who are now leading actresses.
4.Amrita Singh
Saif Ali Khan might be painting the town red with Kareena Kapoor Khan and their son Taimur Ali Khan but he was previously married to actress Amrita Singh with whom he has two children-Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. After Saif’s and Amrita’s divorce, Amrita single-handedly brought up Sara and Ibrahim. Sara made her Bollywood debut last year.
5.Karisma Kapoor
Karisma Kapoor had married businessman Sanjay Kapur but the relationship went kaput. Despite an ugly separation battle with Sanjay, Karisma is doing a great job of raising her kids- daughter Samaira and son Kiaan.
6.Sussanne Khan
Sussanne Khan was married to actor Hrithik Roshan and has two sons with him- Hridhaan and Hrehaan. However, even after divorcing a few years back they are always seen together and are raising their kids in an amicable way.
7.Reena Dutta
Aamir Khan’s first wife Reena Dutta is also a single mother who has raised their kids Junaid Khan and Ira Khan on her own.
8.Malaika Arora
After 18 years of marital bliss, Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan called it quits. The two have a seventeen-year-old son called Arhaan Khan. The two have moved on and currently in a relationship. Arbaaz is dating Georgia Andriani whereas Malaika is rumoured to be seeing Arjun Kapoor.
9. Pooja Bedi
Pooja Bedi is another Bollywood mom who has single-handedly brought up her kids, Alaia and Omar. Her daughter Alaia Furniturewala is soon going to make her Bollywood debut in Jawani Janeman that stars Saif Ali Khan in the lead.
Yesteryear actress Babita is the mother to Bollywood beauties Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan. She single-handedly brought up the actresses when she chose to separate from Randhir Kapoor. She has definitely done a great job as both Karisma and Kareena ruled Bollywood. However, reportedly Babita and Randhir resolved their issues in 2007 yet they are seldom spotted together.
Raveena Tandon had also surprised everyone when she adopted two girls Pooja and Chhaya way back in 1995 much before she tied the knot with film producer Anil Thadani. Pooja and Chhaya were 11 and 8 at that time. Recently, Pooja got married and it was Raveena who walked her down the aisle too. Raveena is a proud grandmother now as Pooja has also embraced motherhood. Raveena has two children of her own with Anil, a daughter named Rasha and a son named Ranbir and Anil co-parented her adopted children as well.
