Rohit Shetty is all set to add on to his cop universe with his next action-drama Sooryavanshi featuring superstar Akshay Kumar. Now, the latest addition to the film is actor Abhimanyu Singh who will play a baddie in the film against Akshay.
Talking about his role and how he bagged it, Abhimanyu recently spoke to a leading daily. He said, “It began when Rohit sir saw my 2017 Tamil action-thriller Theeran, which was based on a true story. It was a big hit in which I had played a villain with heroic shades. He liked my performance in that film and thought that I would fit the role of the baddie in Sooryavanshi. It so happens that I live near Rohit sir’s office and one day, he called me over and congratulated me for bagging the part.”
Describing his turn as “unpredictable and deadly”, Abhimanyu added that his screen alter ego is in India working against several policemen and is on a mission. “It’s an interesting role. Akshay sir and I have known each other for a while now and it has been a great shoot from the first day. It was a serious scene and we had to complete it in a day, which we did. It was lovely shooting with Akshay sir and Rohit sir made me feel as if we have known each other for years,” the actor said.
Akshay plays the role of an ATS chief Veer Sooryanshi in the film. The team has already begun shooting for the film and is all set to fly to Bangkok to film Akshay's introductory shoot after finishing their 10-12 days shoot here in Mumbai. Later, the team will head to Ramoji Filmcity in Hyderabad to shoot some other important scenes, followed by a brief shoot in Goa. The film also stars Badhaai Ho actress Neena Gupta as Akshay’s mother and Katrina Kaif as his love interest.
