'I appreciate Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, and I wish I was like them': Suniel Shetty on making mistakes in his career

If you are a 90s kid, you must be aware that apart from the Khan, the other actors who enjoyed immense popularity in Bollywood included Suniel Shetty, Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devg. While Akshay and Ajay still enjoy solo releases, Suniel's film started to tank at the box-office post-2000 and he eventually was just part of multistarrer films. Off late, he was seen in 2017 film A Gentleman, where he had a special appearance as the main antagonist.

In a recent interview with an entertainment portal, Suneil opened up on his career and the mistakes he made. Stating that he never let success get to his head, the actor maintained, "Never ever, that’s why I made the mistakes I made, I was very emotional, I signed the films with directors saying, ‘sir assistant hoon, kar lo,’ I did it, I never planned my career, I never planned the highs and low. If I fell, I fell, if today, my Friday is not good, it's because of the mistakes I made, but somewhere down the line, I feel Ahan and Athiya will be blessed with everything I did, Athiya was been launched by Salman and now Ahan with Sajid and Milan Luthria, what more can anyone ask for?"

He further praised his contemporaries and friends Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar for their Bollywood success and added, "I never enter a room thinking that my last Friday release was fabulous or bad. I am very strong mentally, I believe in myself. Today when I see Akshay and Ajay, I feel so proud, I salute them, they are very close friends of mine. Even today, they inspire me by what they have achieved, I am not jealous, I have made mistakes that is why where I am, I am, so I appreciate Akshay and Ajay, and I wish I was like them, but I will and for that I need to work hard."

On the work front, Suniel will be seen in Priyadarshan's big-budget Marakkar - The Lion of the Arabian Sea, apart from Kichcha Sudeep's Kannada film Pailwan. Rumours are also rife that he might reunite with Akshay and Paresh Rawal for Hera Pheri 3 although there has been no confirmation yet.
