Back in 2007, Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Shiney Ahuja starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa, helmed by Priyadarshan, emerged as a sleeper hit and impressed everyone by exploring the horror-comedy genre with perfection. Now 12 years later, we hear that the film is all set to get a sequel as T-Series honcho Bhushan Kumar has given his nod to it. “Bhushan wanted to make a part 2 of Bhool Bhulaiyaa for a while now and has cracked an idea with Farhad Samji, who will be writing and directing the film. It is in the development stage and will feature a fresh cast. Once the final script is locked, the team will kick off casting and other pre-production formalities,” a leading daily quoted a source as saying.
The latest development has come weeks after the production house registered the title Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. For the unversed, the 2007 film starring Akshay was an official Hindi remake of the 2005 Tamil movie Chandramukhi. The Rajinikanth starrer was, in turn, a remake of Mohanlal and Shobhana’s 1993 Malayalam movie Manichitrathazu.
Now as the film is expected to feature a fresh cast, we cannot wait to know more details about the project.
Meanwhile, Farhan Samji's Housefull 4 starring Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Bobby Deol, Riteish Deshmukh, and Pooja Hegde is set for a Diwali 2019 release. Interestingly, Akshay will be seen in Laaxmi Bomb, also a horror comedy, a remake of the Tamil movie Kanchana. Apart from that, he is looking forward to release of Mission Mangal, Good News, and Sooryavanshi.
