'I felt intimidated because he has such an aura, he is a big star': Sunil Grover on working with Salman Khan in 'Bharat'

Salman Khan’s Bharat has been one of the most-anticipated films this year. While it features Salman donning several avatars of different age groups, fans are also eager to see him reunite on the silver screen with Katrina Kaif. Interestingly, comedian and actor Sunil Grover, who has impressed the audience with his acts as Gutthi in Comedy Nights With Kapil, and Dr Mashoor Gulati in The Kapil Sharma Show, is set to play a vital role in the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial.

In an interview with a daily, Sunil opened up on his co-star Salman and revealed how he felt intimidated by him. “I felt intimidated because he has such an aura, he is a big star! So, initially, it was difficult to work with him as an actor.” However, Sunil reveals that the ice-breaker was more than just fun. “We had a couple of parties. Party karke raat ko baithke baatein karte the! Those were our workshops,” he said while further adding, “He doesn’t interfere in the work space. I saw different kinds of people — wrestlers, scriptwriters, artistes, etc — coming to meet him. He is so diversified."

For the unversed, Sunil plays Salman's close friend and will be there throughout the film. When asked if he would be seen traversing through different time spans, just like Salman, Sunil quipped, “Yes, playing old is nothing new for me, but this is done realistically. It’s an interesting part." Since his comic timing is commendable, Sunil was questioned if he will be the comic relief in the film, to which he replied, "At some points there is laughter, but it’s not the character who makes you laugh, the situations are such that it will make you laugh." Last but not the least, Sunil expressed his gratitude towards the film's makers and stated, “The team of Bharat offered me the role. Salman sir has always been nice and cordial with me, and complimented me. And now, it feels wonderful to be part of a film like Bharat with such a big star. Actually, I feel lucky."

Bharat also stars Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Tabu, Nora Fatehi and others. It is set to hit theatres on Eid this year.
