Vivek Oberoi shared a meme featuring actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan today and all hell broke loose. The actor was slammed by a few celebrities and even the National Commission of Women took cognizance of his tweet and sent him a notice asking him to apologize. However, the crux of the matter is that it was a meme created by another Twitter user that also took a dig at Vivek and the actor only retweeted it in jest. Now, Vivek has come forward and said that he has done nothing wrong by sharing a meme on social media.
The actor told a news agency, “People are saying apologize, I have no problem in apologizing, but tell me what wrong have I done? If I have done something wrong I will apologize. I don't think I have done anything wrong. What's wrong in it? Somebody tweeted a meme and I laughed at it.”
Haha! creative! No politics here....just life

The meme in question featured three pictures of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and bespoke of her relationships- one with Salman Khan, one with Vivek Oberoi and finally with her husband Abhishek Bachchan and daughter Aaradhya Bachchan. The pictures drew similarities to the exit polls conducted by media channels in lieu of the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections.
Vivek shared the meme with a funny caption, but he was slammed for it. He told the news channel that people are making a "huge issue out of it" and said he just "laughed at the meme". He also said that he was appreciating the creativity of the person behind it. Talking about Aishwarya who has not responded to the controversy yet he said, “Those in the meme don't have a problem, but everyone else has.” Salman Khan also refrained from giving a reaction on the meme.
Vivek who was gung-ho about securing a release date for his Prime Minister Narendra Modi biopic said that since people could not stop the release of his film they are trying to put him behind bars. He also took a potshot at the National Commission for Women and said, “I'd like to meet them, I'll also like to explain myself because I don't think I have done anything wrong.”
He had a piece of advice for Sonam Kapoor as well who had called his tweet ‘disgusting and classless" and said, “Stop overacting in your films and stop overreacting on social media. I've been working in women empowerment for 10 years now. I don't think this is hurting anyone's sentiments.”
