Vivek Oberoi has found himself in a controversy after he tweeted a meme on the exit polls, featuring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's former relationships with Salman Khan and himself, along with her current family with Abhishek Bachchan and Aaradhya Bachchan. The tweet did not go down well with the netizens as well as a number of celebs and notable dignitaries, who asked the PM Narendra Modi biopic actor to apologize for his tweet. Actress Sonam Kapoor also took a strong stand against the meme and tweeted, "disgusting and classless"
To this, Vivek replied in a video by ANI saying that Sonam should react less on social media. He said, "I think sometimes people write such things on Twitter to look cool. I would want to ask Sonam, how much has she worked on women empowerment? I was working on women empowerment ten years back when Sonam was working on her makeover. I would want to only say that Sonam, you are a good girl, I respect your father Anil Kapoor sahab a lot but I have just wanted to tell you one thing." "Aap apne filmon mein Thoda kam overact karein aur social media pe thoda kam overreact karein (overact less in your films, overreact less on social media). I've been working in women's empowerment for 10 years now. I don't think this is hurting anyone's sentiments."
