Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was last seen in Anil Kapoor starrer Fanney Khan, recently impressed everyone with her sartorial outings at Cannes Film Festival 2019. Interestingly, speculations around her next project have been doing the rounds for quite some time now with several media reports suggesting that she is all set to collaborate with ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam for a multi-lingual period drama, based on Tamil novel called Ponniyin Selvan.
Interestingly, amid all the rumours, it turns out Aishwarya herself confirmed the same during a recent interview with Anupama Chopra post one of her outings in the French Riviera. "What I will commit to is because even though Mani (Ratnam) hasn't formally announced it himself but the word is out. So yes, I will commit to the fact that yes, I am working with him. I won't say I agreed...I will always be more than thrilled, excited, overwhelmed, humbled and just happy to work with my guru, Mani. So ya, that is happening," she said hoping that everything materialises well.
While Aishwarya did not reveal much about her role, an earlier report in a leading daily suggested the film will see the actress as the antagonist. Her character is written as a mysterious, power-hungry woman who manipulates her husband to plan the downfall of the Chola empire because she has been wronged by them," the daily quoted a trade source as saying.
Well, we hope to see Aishwarya carve her magic on the silver screen. For now, we await more details on the project.
