Since the time Shahid Kapoor made his acting debut in Ishq Vishk he has only gone from strength to strength. Having proved his acting mettle in films like Kaminey, Haider and Udta Punjab he is back with a bang in Kabir Singh playing the role of an alcoholic-chain smoking jilted lover. The first song Bekhayali from the film which is the Hindi remake of Telugu superhit Arjun Reddy was released today and once again Shahid nails his act.
The song Bekhayali features Shahid and Kiara Advani and gives a glimpse of their passionate love story and eventual sad break up that spirals Shahid in a world of desolation and drink, the song beautifully captures every emotion of the couple. The song is sung by Sachet Tandon and lyrics by Irshad Kamil. The song delves into Shahid’s character’s psyche after having broken up with Kiara and his attempts at forgetting her by turning to alcohol.
Bekhayali depicts Kabir Singh’s (Shahid) present and his attempts at leading a normal life without his girlfriend whom he deeply loved. However, he is unable to do so and resorts to alcohol to probably subdue and forget the memories of his relationship. Shahid’s and Kiara’s chemistry is crackling but since the track shows the former’s heartbreak we get to see very little of the actress. Shahid is magnificent and has a screen presence that stays with you even when the track is over.
Bekhayali is melodious and soulfully sung by Sachet. The music has been composed by Sachet-Parampara. Kabir Singh is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga who also directed the original Telugu version starring Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini. Kabir Singh is slated to release on June 21.
