Sharmin Segal’s and Meezaan Jaaferi's debut film ‘Malaal’ produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali gets a new release date

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming production venture Malaal starring his niece Sharmin Segal and Javed Jaaferi’s son Meezaan Jaaferi has got a new release date. The film was previously scheduled to release on June 28 but now the makers have announced that the film will be released on July 5.

Malaal is a love story based in Mumbai and is based on Shiva and Astha, two very different people from contrasting backgrounds who experience the innocence of love. However, their love is caught between the lingual divide prevalent in Mumbai and the political situation in the city, whether their love overcomes all obstacles or succumbs to its fate is Malaal’s story all about.

The film’s trailer has already appealed to the audience and it is starkly different to Bhansali’s brand of films. It has no larger-than-life sets nor is full of grandeur but depicts normal, mundane, ordinary life.  Meezaan and Sharmin are equally good in the trailer.

Malaal is directed by Mangesh Hadawale and is bankrolled by Bhansali, Bhushan Kumar, Mahaveer Jain and Krishan Kumar. The film is slated to release on June 28.
