Nepalese-American fashion designer Prabal Gurung has denied rumours of being in a relationship with Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar. Rumours started when the designer posted a picture with Karan on Instagram wishing him a happy birthday and captioned it as, "Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya. Happy birthday KJo". His post sent social media in a tizzy. While stories flew fast and furious across every film and fashion website about the two dating, Karan himself cleared the air by commenting below Prabal’s picture, “Control yourself Bhaiya!”

Prabal has now released a statement on Twitter clarifying that Karan is just his “dearest friend” and he does love him a lot but not in a romantic way. He wrote, “Can we have some humour and levity please. I feel very saddened and disappointed to need to say this, but to officially set the record straight: I am not in a romantic relationship with Karan Johar”.
The designer said his Instagram post for Karan was done with “humour and his absolute love of Bollywood, it’s melodramatic flair and the one and only Madhubala... It has subsequently been misconstrued as Karan and me being in a relationship. Karan is one of my dearest friends.”
No, I am not dating @karanjohar He is my dearest friend, mentor, buddy and a big brother. Pls. Kindly read the attachement with my statement and hopefully we can lay it all to rest. Wish you all nothing but the best and love XPG pic.twitter.com/I5UQkIt2fx

PeepingMoon.com sources had revealed on Sunday that this was just Prabal’s mischievous way of wishing his famous Bollywood filmmaker friend for his birthday. And that the Nepalese-American designer is in a happy and committed relationship for the last five years with “Paul”. Now, Prabal has confirmed his five-year-long happy romantic relationship in his clarification note.
Well, now that the air is cleared, we hope everyone loves unabashedly, openly and proudly, as Prabal says.
