I want to put it in my contract that I shouldn’t be considered for any nominations: Salman Khan on Awards

Salman Khan has had a prolific career in Bollywood for more than three decades now. The actor is a superstar and even though he has crossed 50-years-of-age he is still one of the most sought after leading heroes in the industry. Although Salman’s films do tremendous business at the box office the actor is not well-known for garnering many awards for his performance. Currently, he is looking forward to the release of his upcoming film Bharat and is on a promotional spree for the film.

During the song launch of Zinda from Bharat recently, Salman had spoken about how Katrina Kaif who stars in the film alongside him deserves a National Award for her performance in the film. He was in fact quite angry at the fact that they (organizers of award shows) nominate her and then do not give her an award. During an interview recently, he told a leading daily, “For me, awards have never mattered. In fact, I want to put it in my contract, and send a notice that I shouldn’t be considered for any nominations. And, if they do nominate me, then they have to talk paisa with me. Humara naam daalenge nomination ke andar, aur show ka naam badhega. Free fund ke andar woh humse paisa kamaa ke jaayenge, humko nahi chahiye."

He further added that awards don’t matter to him but they do to Katrina and since her performance in Bharat is effortless she definitely deserves one for it. Bharat is a period drama directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and also stars Disha Patani, Tabu, Sunil Grover, Jackie Shroff, Sonali Kulkarni, Nora Fatehi and Aasif Sheikh. The film is slated to release on June 5.
