In January this year, Sonakshi Sinha began shooting for debutant director Shilpi Dasgupta’s yet untitled project, which is a slice-of-life entertainer. The film, which marks the acting debut of rapper Badshah, also stars Varun Sharma and Annu Kapoor, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Nadira Babbar in the lead. Now as per a report in a leading daily, Sonakshi and Badshah are all set to recreate Jasbir Jassi’s hit song from 2003, Koka, on screen. While Jasbir Jassi’s voice would be retained, the Tanishk Bagchi’s recreated version will have some rap portions by Badshah.
Reportedly, the folksy number is being used as a celebratory track and the cast would be seen grooving to it. “Choreographed and directed by Vijay Ganguly, it was recently shot at a resort in Panvel,” the daily quoted a source as saying. Sonakshi further confirmed the news by saying, “Yes, Koka is a peppy, foot-tapping number, one of my favourites, and we had a great time shooting it.” Talking about the song, Badshah revealed that it was a delight to revisit Jasbir Jassi'a magic and said, “Tanishk has done a great job with urbanising the folk sound and it’s definitely going to be the new jam this wedding season."
The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar and Mrighdeep Lamba. The T-series honcho reasoned that the recreated version of the song suits the film perfectly. “The backdrop is Punjab and the characters are happy-go-lucky people. They celebrate their happiness in full-on masti and in keeping with the flavor and characters, Koka was the apt song to take forward,” he concluded.
Now we just cannot wait to see Badshah and Sonakshi matching steps on the foot-tapping number.
