Delhi High Court dismisses PIL demanding stay on Salman Khan’s ‘Bharat’

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bharat is one of the most-awaited films of the year. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar the film is all set to release on June 5. However, the film made headlines recently for all the wrong reasons when a PIL was filed against the film in Delhi High Court demanding a stay on the film as its title and a dialogue hurts patriotic feelings.

Apparently, the petitioner sought a stay on the film under the claim that the film violates Section 3 of the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act. As per this Act, certain names and designations cannot be used for commercial and professional use and the petitioner had claimed that ‘Bharat’ also comes under this. However, the Delhi High Court has ruled in the favour of Salman’s film and dismissed the petition.
