Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Aanand L Rai's Zero but the film failed to impress the audience and the critics. Although the actor was supposed to star in the Rakesh Sharma biopic, Saare Jahaan Se Accha, the dismal run of Zero apparently prompted him to reconsider all his options before jumping on to his next project. Now as per a report in a leading daily, SRK might collaborate next with Sanju director Raj Kumar Hirani for a love story that will be co-produced by their respective production houses. Although Hirani has maintained a low profile since he was accused of sexual harassment by an employee, it seems he is back to work as the MeToo case has hit a roadblock after no police complaint was registered.
"People have been waiting for Shah Rukh to announce his next project after Zero. Shah Rukh and Hirani have been meeting since a few months to discuss this. It's almost finalised. Hirani will float his own banner and will not [work] with Vidhu Vinod Chopra, as has been the norm. It's a romantic drama with a strong emotional cord running through; it's right up SRK's alley," the daily quoted a source as saying.
For the unversed, SRK and Hirani were supposed to work together on Munna Bhai MBBS (2003). However, things did not go as planned and the actor-director have been looking to associate since then. Now after 16 years, it looks like both of them have a project in hand, which is undoubtedly important for both Shah Rukh and Hirani.
Meanwhile, there has been no official confirmation from either of them.
