Sikandar Kher joins the cast of Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi, starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif

Rohit Shetty has interwoven the world of Singham, Simmba and his upcoming film Sooryavanshi - creating his own 'cop universe' in Bollywood. His next Sooryavanshi, starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, has already gone on floors with the actor sharing glimpses of his bike and helicopter stunts in Bangkok. Now as we wait to see Akshay play the role of Veer Suryavanshi, a character that was introduced as an anti-terrorist squad officer in Ranveer Singh-starrer Simmba, we now hear that Rohit has roped in Sikander Kher for the project and he is currently shooting action scenes in Thailand.

Confirming the news, Sikander told a daily, “I am not at liberty to reveal anything about my role except that it’s a fun character. Right now, I am just enjoying this schedule with my co-stars and Rohit. This is a big project for me and I value the fact that I was considered for it.” For those caught unaware, Sikander sustained an injury in his left leg in March this year but to ensure that he’s physically fit to work on Sooryavanshi, he reportedly adopted a process of recovery usually meant for sportspersons.

Interestingly, the actor played John Abraham’s nemesis in Romeo Akbar Walter (RAW) and had to perform some physically strenuous action scenes. However, he pointed out that Sooryavanshi and RAW are very different from each other. Sharing his excitement on working with Akshay, he concluded by saying, "For a guy trying to find his feet again, these chances are invaluable and impossible to pass on. After working with John, I’m now getting a chance to collaborate with Akki paaji, who is a fantastic co-actor."

Sooryavanshi will see Katrina as Akshay's love interest while Neena Gupta will be playing Akshay's mother. Nikitin Dheer has also joined the film's cast and will portray a baddie in Sooryavanshi, which will hit the screens in 2020.
