Speculations were rife for long that Rohit Shetty and Salman Khan are coming together for a film. In fact, several media reports suggested that Salman was in talks with the Sooryavanshi director for the sequel of the 2014 film Kick, starring Salman and Jacqueline Fernandez. However, production house Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment confirmed on Monday that it will only be Sajid Nadiadwala, who will direct Kick 2, and not any other filmmaker. "Clearing the air, we strongly deny any reports of association of any other name as the director of 'Kick 2'. The next of the franchise, 'Kick 2' is with Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and will be directed by Sajid Nadiadwala," the production banner said in a statement on Twitter.
While Salman fans seemed excited about Kick 2, netizens were also worried that Salman's and Rohit's reported collaboration has gone for a toss. But that's not the case as the two might work together on a cop film. Salman confirmed to a leading daily that he had pitched a Singham-Chulbul Pandey crossover film to Rohit a long time ago. “I had told Rohit a long time ago about Singham and Chulbul, but that was a long time ago,” Salman was quoted as saying.
Now with an idea already in hand, we cannot wait to see the actor-director duo to carve magic on the silver screen.
Incidentally, Salman has aced the cop stereotype with the Dabangg franchise while Rohit has carved his own cop universe with Ajay Devgn (Singham), Ranveer Singh (Simbaa) — to his latest, namely Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi.
