Bhuj: The Pride of India, directed by Abhishek Dudhaiya, features an ensemble cast including Ajay Devgn, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Rana Daggubati, Parineeti Chopra and Ammy Virk. Produced by T-Series and Select Media Holdings LLP, it has been locked for release on August 14, 2020. Ever since the film was announced, cinegoers have been excited for the project and now we hear, the makers are reportedly looking to recreate the Gujarat city in Hyderabad's ramoji rao Studios for a shooting schedule, which kicks off as early as next week.
A leading daily quoted a production member as saying, "A huge set which includes a replica of the Madhapar village, has been erected at Ramoji Rao. Building it was a costly affair, it was done over a period of one month. The makers had to recreate the '70s as the story is set in 1971. The security has been beefed up to ensure that pictures of the set are not leaked." While the team had contemplated filming a major chunk in Bhuj, idea was immediately shelved considering the security concerns as the village is near the India-Pakistan border. "But, there will be some portions that will be shot at actual locations," added the source.
As per an earlier statement, Bhuj: The Pride of India celebrates the courage of the 300 women of Madhapur in Gujarat, who played a pivotal part in India's victory in the 1971 India-Pakistan war. It tells the story of how these women got together to repair the only runway in Bhuj that had been destroyed during the war.
The upcoming schedule of the film is expected to run for two months and will, most likely, start with Sonakshi, who plays Sunderben Jetha Madharparya, a social worker who convinced the women to build the runway. "She will be joined by Sanjay Dutt, who will be seen as Ranchordas Svabhai Ravari, who helped the Indian Army during the war," the report added. Ajay, Parineeti and Rana are expected to join the shoot later.
