It would not be wrong to say that remakes are the trend of the season and South films are gaining a lot of attention from Bollywood filmmakers. While Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani will be seen in Kabir Singh - the remake of Vijay Deverakonda’s Arjun Reddy, Raghava Lawrence’s Kanchana is also being remade in Bollywood as Laxmmi Bomb with Akshay Kumar and Kiara. Now it seems, John Abraham is all set to follow Shahid's and Akshay's footsteps and will be seen playing the lead in the Hindi remake of the 2015 Tamil action blockbuster Vedalam, which was directed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Siva and features Ajith Kumar as the protagonist.
As per a report in a leading daily, T-series honcho Bhushan Kumar is quite keen on remaking Thala Ajith’s Vedalam and has acquired the rights for the Hindi remake. “Bhushan loved the original and has spoken to John about making it in Hindi. John has agreed to be a part of the film; however, the signing formalities are still being closed. The Hindi version will be adapted in a way that will appeal to a pan-India audience, while the makers are still on the lookout for a director. Once the final script is locked and a director is on board, the team will begin casting for the rest of the parts alongside other pre-production formalities," the daily quoted a source close to the development as saying.
Well, the project certainly looks promising and we cannot wait to know more details about the same.
For the unversed, Vedalam has been one of Ajith’s most popular films and starred Shruti Haasan as the female lead while Rahul Dev, Kabir Duhan Singh, Ankit Chauhan played the antagonists. John, on the other hand, was last seen in Satyameva Jayate.
