Katrina Kaif is well-known to be a very private person. Even though she has had two well-known long relationships with superstars Salman Khan and then with Ranbir Kapoor she had always refrained from talking about her love life in the media. She even chose to keep mum and maintain a dignified silence after her breakups. It is only now after three years of parting ways with Ranbir that the actress has chosen to speak up about the ordeal the breakup took on her. Ranbir since then has moved on and is dating Alia Bhatt currently while Katrina is happily single and reaping accolades for her performances in Zero and Bharat.
In a recent interview with a tabloid, Katrina revealed that the reason she opened up about her past was that she could not avoid the subject forever by being in the spotlight. She said, “If I had my way, I would have never spoken about my relationship. I chose to talk about it because the media was interested in it. I couldn't have dodged the bullet every time. I would have sounded rude if I did that. So, the best thing was to share the bare minimum I wanted to and be frank enough to accept the reality. We (she and Ranbir) still have respect for each other, and that will not change.”
She also spoke about how the breakup made her a more mature person. She added, “When I was going through a separation, one of my sisters was also in the same phase. That's when I realized that since my life was out in the open, the ego was more bruised, but at the end of the day, we both felt the same pain. I found solace in reading. My friends were also a strong source of support. I don't have any regrets (about that chapter). I have come out of the experience a lot more mature."
Katrina is currently basking in the glory her two recent performances have brought her. She will be next seen opposite Akshay Kumar in Rohit Shetty’s cop drama Sooryavanshi that is slated to release in March 27, 2020.
