Parineeti Chopra gets her coach in Manav Kaul for Saina Nehwal biopic

In March it was confirmed that Shraddha Kapoor, who was initially playing the role of Saina Nehwal in her biopic, had to back out of the film due to scheduling conflicts and Parineeti Chopra had stepped in to play the ace shuttler. In March itself Pari had started training for the film at a suburban sports complex iwth Eshan Naqvi who, besides coaching her in the sport, is also her co-star in the film. Now, reports say that the makers have roped in Tumhari Sulu actor Manav Kaul to play Saina’s coach in the biopic.

According to a source close to the development, the character draws inspiration from all the coaches that have played an important role in Saina’s career. “Amole and his team felt that Manav would suit the role. He has begun prep and the research for his role. The film is expected to go on the floors in October,” the source added. After playing husband to Vidya Balan in Suresh Triveni’s 2017 slice-of-life comedy, Manav was recently seen in the Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer Badla, as well as Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyun Aata Hai?

Meanwhile, Parineeti had earlier informed the daily that she wakes up at 5 am every day to work out and is training in badminton on every alternate day for the Bhushan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar and Deepa Bhatia production. “Prep usually starts early because we have booked courts in slots when there are no distractions of any kind. We start at 6 am and wind up by 8 am. I will have to live this regimented life for the next nine months, but I am pretty kicked about it. I want to do justice to the film and to Saina,” Parineeti had said.
