Mumbai-based doctor files complaint against Shahid Kapoor’s film ‘Kabir Singh’, demands the screening to be stopped

At a time when doctors have been on strike in West Bengal and other parts of India after a junior doctor was assaulted, Shahid Kapoor’s film Kabir Singh has come under the scanner for projecting doctors in a bad light. The film that released on last Friday has received mixed reviews, while the audience has liked the film, several critics and celebrities have panned it for being misogynistic and showing extreme violent behaviour.

Shahid’s performance as an alcohol and drug-snorting doctor who receives a setback in love has been appreciated and the film will eventually become the actor’s first film to cross Rs 100 crore mark at the box office. However, a Mumbai-based doctor has filed a complaint against the makers of the film for showing doctors in a bad light. The doctor has alleged that Shahid’s portrayal as an alcoholic doctor who resorts to hard liquor and drugs to overcome his heartbreak and his violent aggressive portrayal puts all doctors in a bad light.

Kabir Singh is the official remake of Telugu super hit Arjun Reddy which had Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in the lead. Both the films have been directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
