Mumbai Court issues summons to Kangana Ranaut and sister Rangoli in Aditya Pancholi defamation case; hearing on July 26

A Mumbai court on Tuesday issues reportedly issued summons to Kangana Ranaut and her sister Rangoli Chandel, seeking their appearance in connection with criminal defamation cases filed by actor Aditya Pancholi and his wife Zarina Wahab in 2017. According to a leading news agency, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate S B Dighe issued two summons each against Kangana and Rangoli with regard to the four cases filed by Aditya and Zarina. While the cases against Kangana are related to her interviews and statements made during a television show, those against her sister Rangoli are related to comments made on social media.

Aditya's lawyer Shreya Shrivastava told the agency, "She (Kangana) had claimed that Aditya kept her under house arrest and she registered an FIR against him, but since no such FIR was ever registered, there is prima facie case that she defamed him." The lawyer further claimed that Rangoli too defamed Aditya and his wife by making allegations against them on social media. The matter is posted for further hearing on July 26, Shrivastava added.

For the unversed, in 2017, Kangana and her sister Rangoli claimed on multiple publc platforms including national TV that Aditya misused the actress when she was in an abusive relationship with Aditya over a decade back. Post that, Rangoli had also filed an application in the Versova police station stating that her sister was exploited and abused by Aditya. The entire fiasco led Aditya and Zarina to file a counter application in the same police station.

Meanwhile, Kangana or his lawyer is yet to out speak on the latest development in the case.
