Radhika Apte and Ayushmann Khurrana recently appeared together on Neha Dhupia’s chat show BFFs With Vogue and revealed that she was supposed to team up with Ayushmann much before their hit film AndhaDhun that released last year. Apparently, she was supposed to star opposite Ayushmann in his debut film Vicky Donor but she was later rejected as she was overweight. The role finally went to Yami Gautam who also made her Bollywood debut with the film.
A leading tabloid quoted her as saying, “I had gone on a holiday for a month, drank a lot of beer, ate loads of food. I told them that I’ll come back and lose it. But they did not want to take a chance.” She said that the rejection made her get conscious about her diet. She further added, “I don’t get affected by rejection at work, but the weight thing really messed with my head.”
Ayushmann and Radhika will appear for the finale episode of the show. Radhika and Ayushmann later teamed up in Sriram Raghavan’s AndhaDhun that turned out to be the best film of last year. Talking about her film roles, Radhika further said, “The roles that I have done are very normal, I had people around me like my roles. My roles are apart from the mainstream cinema, where actors are dancing around and are way too sweet.”
In spite of the initial setback, Radhika had a tremendous year in 2018. She featured in four films last year including AndhaDhun, PadMan, Baazaar and Netflix original film Lust Stories.
