Andaz Apna Apna stands tall in the list of the cult, evergreen favourite films and in this ongoing culture of remakes and sequels, how can this film stay away? Reports of a sequel of the Salman Khan and Aamir Khan film had been making a buzz across media for a while of late. Now, as per new developments, the sequel has been confirmed by the writer of the original, who also made a revelation that will up the excitement levels. The writer- Dilip Shukla, also the dialogue writer for Salman's Dabangg 3, while talking to a leading daily, said the lead cast- Salman and Aamir have been retained for the second installment of the comic drama. He also added that a new cast will join them.
"The sequel cannot be complete without Salman Khan and Aamir Khan. They will be there along with three other new cast members. I am writing the sequel. It is not easy to pen a sequel. I have to bring something more attractive in comparison to the earlier one," Dilip told the daily.
Salman Khan and Aamir Khan in a still from Andaz Apna Apna
Reports on an entertainment portal earlier this year suggested that the makers of Andaz Apna Apna aren't sure about whether the film will be taken forward as a remake or sequel. "The producers Vinay and Priti Sinha are planning to do Andaz Apna Apna - it won’t be a sequel or remake. Nor will Raj Kumar Santoshi direct it. While they have not decided yet what exactly it will be, they are sure it won’t be a remake or sequel but something as exciting. Raj Kumar Santoshi’s Andaz Apna Apna, starring Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor, was a cult movie and one cannot mess with the original. One should not touch such a great film and that too 25 years later and destroy it by a remake or sequel. The director is yet to be finalised," a source close to the film informed the portal.
The source also said, "AAA reloaded is a big film and the makers are treading cautiously as they want to finalise everything before making an announcement. Ranveer and Varun have been approached to play Amar and Prem for their comic flair, who again will be happy-go-lucky characters but not the same ones we saw in the 1994 movie."
