Zaira Wasim's decision to step back from Bollywood came across as a shocking one to many in the industry. The 18-year-old actress, on Sunday, issued a statement about the same on her Instagram account citing religion as the reason to quit films. Now, in the latest development, we hear Zaira won't be promoting her upcoming film The Sky Is Pink. As per a report in a leading daily, the promotions for the film are likely to kickstart by August end and Zaira has no intentions to be associated with films till then. This decision of hers has been conveyed to the director Shonali Bose.
"With the film eyeing an October 11 release, the makers were planning to kick off the promotions by August-end. it was evident from Zaira's Facebook post on Sunday that she has decided to severe her ties from films. In keeping with her decision, she has requested the makers to excuse her from the promotional activities. While she was a thorough professional throughout the shoot, she is now firm in her resolve to not be associated with movies in any capacity. The team, including director Shonali Bose, have been informed of her decision," the source close to the film informed the daily.

The Sky Is Pink, apart from Zaira stars Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar and Rohit Saraf in lead roles. The film is directed by Shonali and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur under his banner Roy Kapur films with Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Movies. It is scheduled to release on October 11.
