Actress Sonakshi Sinha forthcoming project Khandaani Shafakhana, directed by Shilpi Dasgupta, depicts the journey of a young girl who inherits her dead uncle's sex clinic in Punjab. Apart from Sonakshi, the film also stars Varun Sharma and marks the Bollywood debut of popular singer and rapper, Badshah. Ahead of the film's release, Badshah got candid about Khandaani Shafakhana and revealed his take on sex-related problems by saying, “Sex ko sex hi bologe, aur kya bologe?”
In an interview with a leading daily, Badshah claimed that the film is an attempt to break taboos related to sex. "It’s the age-old thinking that girls cannot and do not talk about sex. Also, we have huge a generation gap. Our generation is far more aware of sex-related problems as compared to our previous generation. It is this gap in thinking that we are trying to bridge through this film, because there is no other way to put it," adding, "We have projected that idea in a humorous way because reality can get overbearing at times, and that’s when humour comes into play."
When asked if he ever discussed the subject with his parents during his growing-up years, Badshah quipped, "Absolutely not, and that is why this project appealed to me a lot. Agar meri itni frank conversation hoti about sex, toh mujhe yeh mudda hi nahin lagta. We could not talk about sex with our parents , which is why we could not understand so many things." Reiterating that 'sex problems discuss karne se aapka manhood nahi chala jayega', Badshah concluded by saying, "The film shows that sex-related problems are real and one must get them properly treated. Also, it is not specific to any one problem, it covers a broad spectrum." In fact, Sonakshi too had earlier said that Khandaani Shafakhana will make people think why sex still remains a taboo in the society.
Well, we certainly cannot wait to catch the much-awaited film.
Khandaani Shafakhana is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Mahaveer Jain, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba and Divya Khosla Kumar and is slated for release on August 2.
