I worked to reclaim my own palace: Saif Ali Khan on establishing an independent identity despite belonging to a Royal family

Saif Ali Khan, although a star kid, has managed to carve a niche for himself in the showbiz industry and the proof remains works like Dil Chahta Hai, Go Goa Gone and the current favourite web series Sacred Games. The actor, who is currently shooting for Jawaani Jaaneman in London, during an interview with a magazine spoke about putting it all in making an independent name for himself. He said, although he belongs to a Royal family, he hasn't been dependent on his parents Sharmila Tagore and Late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi for money since the age of eighteen. Saif told that all he inherited from his ancestors is just the Pataudi Palace. Speaking of the Palace, Saif revealed that he had to reclaim his own property, which he did all by himself by investing in hard work.

"I have inherited nothing, except land. Everything has been worked for. I have not asked my parents for money since I turned 18-and I am proud of that!  I had to take my house back from the hotel, hardly anyone knows I worked to reclaim my own palace," Saif told during the interview.

Talking about the Pataudi lineage, Saif is 10th in the line to attain the status of a Nawab in the family. The Pataudi Palace was built by Saif’s grandfather Iftikar Ali Khan Pataudi and is situated near Gurugram, Haryana. The Palace is said to be managed by a hotel group named Neemrana Hotels till 2015 after Saif reclaimed its possession after he became the Nawab in 2011.
