The highly-anticipated Kabir Singh, a remake of Telugu film Arjun Reddy, starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani released on June 21 and even after one of its release, fans are going gaga after Shahid's performance in the film. The film has not only become the highest grosser of 2019, it has already crossed the Rs 250 crore mark, aiming towards Rs 300 crore before its run at the box-office. Now it seems, Shahid who is basking in the glory of Kabir SIngh's success, is making full use of it and has hiked his fees for his next project.
For those caught unaware, several media reports recently suggested that Dharma Productions have approached Shahid a few weeks back with a remake of the superhit Telugu Jersey which released earlier this year. Apparently, Karan Johar has secured the Hindi remake rights of Telugu actor Nani's recent hit for an undisclosed amount and the Kabir Singh actor is rumoured to be a part of the Hindi remake. Now according to an entertainment portal, Shahid has "demanded Rs 40 crore for the film, which is a very big amount." Moreover, the report added that Jersey remake will not be bankrolled by KJo's Dharma Productions but "Dil Raju and Allu Aravind will invest in this Bollywood venture under their respective banners of Sri Venkateswara Creations and Geetha Arts."
Well, only time will tell how the Jersey remake finally shapes up and if Shahid finally gets on board the project or not. Nonetheless, it seems Shahid certainly believes he is bankable enough to hike his fee.
Meanwhile, Jersey, directed by Gautam Tinnanuri, is the story of 36-year-old cricketer Arjun, who rises to fame towards the end of his cricketing career. The film also marked Vikram Vedha heroine Shraddha Srinath's debut in Telugu. With Shahid acing his character in Arjun Reddy remake, it would be a delight to see him in another as well.
