In 2018, Anushka Sharma was seen in Pari and Sui Dhaaga, followed by Aanand L Rai's Zero, co-starring Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. For the film, she was praised for her role of a wheelchair-bound NASA scientist. However, since her last release, Anushka has been away from films and in fact, she hasn't signed her next project yet. Unexpectedly so, her decision to take time off work fuelled rumours recently that Anushka is pregnant.
Now, during an interview with a leading magazine, Anushka brushed off her pregnancy rumours and even went on the slam reports that claimed so. "Yeah. If you're married then people ask, Is she pregnant? They love to read into something when there really isn't anything," she told the magazine. She also talked about the stereotypical mindset that makes people assume that when an actress gets married she’ll be pregnant. "An actress gets married and the next thing they talk about it is, Is she pregnant? When she’s dating it’s like, Shaadi karne wale hai ki nahi? It’s crude. You should allow people to live their life. What’s the need to jump the gun? Then put someone in a position where they end up clarifying unnecessarily. What irks me is the clarification part. Do I need to clarify? Nahi! But then that’s how it is," Anushka was quoted as saying.
Furthermore, she requested everyone to let the celebs live their life freely and maintained, "Any actress, who gets married... sabke baare mein they’ve said something. Someone could be wearing clothes that are loose. That’s because they’re trendy. But they’re said to be pregnant. It’s like a monkey on your back. You can’t do anything about it. You just ignore it.”
Anushka recently came back to Mumbai after spending time with Virat Kohli in UK, who was playing the World Cup 2019 there.
