Nawazuddin Siddiqui feels a 'total change' need to be implemented in films to get rid of racism

Nawazuddin Siddiqui, a few years ago began the conversation on racism and colour complexion prevalent in our Indian society and films alike. The actor, on his Twitter account, posted a comment that put forth his concern in the right measure. Soon, users of the social media platform lauded Nawazuddin for bringing this bias into the light. During an interview with a leading daily, Nawazudding once again spoke about this issue and said a major reform needs to be brought into films. The actor told such bias exists everywhere and things won't change anytime soon until a 'total change' is brought.

"Not just the film industry, such taboos exist everywhere. Things won't change anytime soon. And in Bollywood, it's rampant, it has always been there. Waise aam janta bhi apni heroine ko gori, aur hero ko gora dekhna chahti hai... Maa bhi chahti hai ki beta gori bahu le kar aaye. So, it's all a part of society. This mentality reflects in Bollywood... A total change is required," Nawazuddin told.

The origin of this issue dates back to 2017 when Sanjay Chauhan, the casting director of Babumoshai Bandookbaaz in which Nawazuddin was cast as the lead actor stated that it would look 'weird' if Nawazuddin was cast with 'fair and handsome people'. The actor, in response to the remark, made the comment as mentioned before.

Nawazuddin, workwise, is gearing up for the release of Sacred Games 2. Apart from that, he will be seen in Bole Chudiyan, Sudhir Mishra's Serious Men and Bangladeshi filmmaker Mustafa Sarwar Farooqui's No Lands Man.
