The entire nation has been in a shock post the road-truck accident which left the Unnao girl, who had accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar of rape, in a critical condition. While her lawyer, Mahendra Singh, was also injured in the accident, her two female relatives succumed to the injuries and died. As the girl battles for her life, several B-town celebs reacted to the news and extended their support. Twinkle Khanna, who was shaken up by the accident, took to Twitter to write, "I pray that this poor girl gets the justice she deserves. This is horrific and clearly with the truck's blackened number plate seems far from a coincidence #Unnao #justicemissinginaction."
However, her husband and actor Akshay Kumar, has remained silent on the entire Unnao rape case. When he was asked about it during an interview with a leading daily, Akshay stated that for him, it is not only about tweeting but also doing something for a cause. "I speak when I feel the need to express myself. And it's not only about tweeting and speaking but doing something for a cause I believe in. My films like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and PadMan are also a medium to express myself even if they bring in less investment than a Rowdy Rathore or Singh Is Kinng sequel from the distributors. I'm not blaming anyone, people are here to do business. If I can donate for a cause, I will. If I can address an issue through a film, I will do that too," he was quoted as saying.
On the work front, Akshay will be seen next in Jagan Shakti's Mission Mangal, which celebrates India's first interplanetary mission - Mars Orbiter Mission. Apart from that, he has Farhad Samji's Housefull 4, Raj Mehta's Good News, Raghava Lawrence's Laxmmi Bomb, Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi and the recently announced Bachchan Pandey, in the pipeline.
