Over the past few years, the films in Bollywood has taken a paradigm shift. The industry has become a lot more open towards dealing with taboo subjects with panache, elegance, subtlety and humour. The actor who should be given due credit for bringing such under the carpet topics to fore is Ayushmann Khurrana who did a string of films tackling society’s taboo subjects starting from his debut film Vicky Donor. Now, joining him is Sonakshi Sinha who is seen running a sex clinic in her film Khandaani Shafakhana.
In a recent interview with a leading daily, Sonakshi mentioned that the content in Indian films has changed and credited Ayushmann for bringing a change through his films Vicky Donor, Shubh Mangal Savdhaan and Badhaai Ho. She called him the star of these films and ‘the flag bearer of films on sex-related subjects in Bollywood.’

On hearing this, Ayushmann took Sonakshi’s comment as a compliment and said, “I think that’s a huge compliment. We should talk about sex openly, and times have indeed changed. Sex education is not something that should happen with peers. Parents should start the conversation… maybe with something like good and bad touch. When we talk about progressive cinema, this is what we are talking about; bringing about change that matters.”
After catching a special screening of Khandaani Shafakhana Ayushmann also praised the film.
#KhaandaniShafakhana has its heart at the right place. A very relevant film on sex education. #BaatTohKaro@sonakshisinha gives her career best. @varunsharma90 is super funny and @Its_Badshah is such a revelation. Fab job paaji. And such a sweet debut by @Priyanshjora
