'Many tend to forget my experience of working in television': Mouni Roy gets candid on her journey in Bollywood

Before entering Bollywood, Mouni Roy was a popular face on the small screen and starred in several success television shows, including Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Devon Ke Dev...Mahadev and the first two seasons of Naagin. She made her big screen debut with Reema Kagti's sports drama Gold, in which she was cast opposite Akshay Kumar. What's more? She has an interesting lineup of films ahead and her shift from TV to films has been successful.

Expressing her gratitude on the same, Mouni told a leading daily, "Being a complete outsider, the [film] industry has been very kind to me. People here have considered me well-equipped and have trusted me to play all these parts, I obviously feel thankful. I think it's very important to believe in your journey, never forget that there is no substitute for hard work. So, besides being grateful, I'm staying focused." She further added that she has worked very hard as success in films is not easy, "At times, many tend to forget my experience of working in television - the fact that I've been acting and dancing for ten years. So, it's not that things are coming to me when I'm at home sipping my tea. I had to work really hard to reach where I am today. I had to audition for each of these parts, prove myself to get the role in films," she said.
