After his parents received threat calls and his daughter Aaliyah was threatened with rape, noted filmmaker Anurag Kashyap decided to quit Twitter on Saturday (August 10). Before he left the micro-blogging site, Anurag informed his followers by writing, "When your parents start to get calls and your daughter gets online threats you know that no one wants to talk .There isn’t going to be reason or rationale. Thugs will rule and thuggery will be the new way of life. Congratulations everyone on this new india & hope you all thrive."
He then stated that he isn't allowed to speak his mind freely and tweeted, "Wish you all the happiness and success. This would be my last tweet as i leave twitter. When i won't be allowed to speak my mind without fear then i would rather not speak at all. Goodbye." Anurag's Twitter account is no longer available, check out his last tweets here:

This isn't the first time that he revealed that his family members are getting threats. In May this year, he had tagged PM Narendra Modi on Twitter and asked him how to deal with his followers who were celebrating his victory in the Lok Sabha polls by making rape threats to his daughter.
Meanwhile, be it expressing concern over the increasing cases of lynching or commenting on the Centre's decision to scrap Article 370, Anurag has been quite vocal about his political views on Twitter. Work wise, he is looking forward to his next production Saand Ki Aankh, starring Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar, apart from Sacred Games 2.
