Music videos are slowly but steadily becoming the 'it thing' in Bollywood. It is trending and how! Bollywood stars seem comfortable to star in big-banner music videos nowadays and impress their fans. Not only films and ads, but even music videos add on to a good amount of revenue that some Bollywood A-listers take home. Biggies like John Abraham (Chup Chupke), Shahid Kapoor (Aryans’ Anakhon Mein), Vidya Balan (Euphoria’s Kabhi Aana Tu Meri Gali), Bipasha Basu (Sonu Nigam’s Tu) and later Deepika Padukone (Himesh Reshammiya’s Naam Hai Tera Tera) all featured in them before they entered films. And even today, established actors have been upping the glam quotient by making an appearance in them — from dance to romantic and even hip-hop numbers.
With The Doorbeen's latest music video Prada, Alia Bhatt has also made it to the list of celebrities who have churned out good publicity with their music videos. From Shah Rukh Khan to Hrithik Roshan, several Bollywood stars have made music videos big by appearing in it. Music videos have become a source of easy money for some Bollywood stars. Celebrities charge a bomb amount of either 35-50 lakhs per day for the shoot or 1-3 crores in total, making it an extremely big source of income. The songs are usually shot in 2-3 days and do not require a big budget as such. Not only this, but music videos also help these Bollywood celebrities with their personal promotion. Whenever celebrities get a free period of 8-10 days from their film shoots, they try to utilize those days and shoot for the music video.
A source informed PeepingMoon, “Music companies’ idea is to make music videos which churn out good money. Once the company is sure that their song has the potential to do well, they approach Bollywood A-listers as they add their face value and make the song a super hit, commercially and well as critically."
