Nushrat Bharucha was last seen in Luv Ranjan-directed 2018 release, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, alongside Kartik Aaryan. She previously starred with him in Punchnama (2011), Akaash Vani (2013) and Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015) as well. However, lately, there have been reports of a fallout between the two. When Nushrat was asked about it in an interaction with a leading daily, she quashed the rumours by saying, “Aisa kuch bhi nahin hai." She further quipped, “But I don’t blame people as we did too many films together early on in our careers. When you are working with someone for that long, you end up hanging out with them extensively, for readings and rehearsals. When you move on to another project, you are spotted with different people. It’s not like our equation has changed. I am sure we will work together again."

Earlier too, Nushrat had stated that while she and Kartik "might have had different paths and career graphs", their "bond remains intact". Well, all is well that ends well!

Work wise, Nushrat will be seen opposite Ayushmann Khurrana in Raaj Shaandilyaa’s directorial debut, Dream Girl. When asked if she had doubts while taking up the film as the dream girl here is not her but the leading man Ayushmann, the actress quipped, “I took on a film like Pyaar Ka Punchnama and its sequel, in which I am the villain. Nobody wanted to do that role as it doesn’t work for a heroine’s image. I did it twice. Then, Sonu Ke… happened and in it, I am openly saying that I am not the heroine but the villain. My cinematic sensibility vis-a-vis my role depends on the film in question. If it is interesting, I will be a part of it.”

Apart from that, Nushrat also has Hansal Mehta's Turram Khan, in which she will romance Rajkummar Rao.
