Filmmaker Karan Johar's upcoming period drama Takht has become one of the highly anticipated and trending films of recent times. With a stellar cast including Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar, the Mughal era drama has grabbed eyeballs of avid cinema watchers. Takht is said to release in 2020 and the team has already started preparing for the ambitious project. A while ago, Karan shared a glimpse into the pre-production stage of the film and now, on Saturday, Alia also shared gave a sneak peek into the preparations of the multi-starrer venture.
The actress, who is said to play the role of Dilras Banu Begum, on Instagram shared a glimpse into the meeting with Karan holding a mug that read 'Takht'. On Saturday, Alia, post her meeting with Sanjay Leela Bhansali joined by Ranveer and fashion designer Manish Malhotra at Karan's Dharma Productions office, possibly for a costume discussion meeting.
Speaking of Takht, a while ago, there were reports of the film getting shelved, but Karan, in an interview, clarified that the film is gearing up to go on floors and the quashed the reports of it being scrapped.Takht is rumoured to go on floors in February 2020. The film is a historical drama based on the Mughal Era and apparently tells about the power struggle between Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan(Anil)’s son Dara Shikoh(Ranveer) and Aurangzeb(Vicky). The buzz suggests Janhvi playing the role of Nadira Banu Begum. Kareena is said to play Jahanara Begum.
