Rajkummar Rao's and Shraddha Kapoor's 2018 released horror-comedy Stree set the benchmark for future films of the same genre extremely high. The film which marked the directorial debut of Amar Kaushik proved to be a winner with the audience and critics alike. Not just did the project surpass all box office records but also became a favourite watch with the audience, who, within months of its release, began demanding for a sequel. A while ago, reports did the rounds that Stree will be getting a sequel soon but now, it seems the film will be converted into a trilogy. The writers of Stree, filmmakers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, better known as Raj and DK, during an interview with a leading daily, confirmed that part two and three will come out soon and they have started working on it. Not just this, Raj and DK also confirmed a sequel to the 2013 released Go Goa Gone starring Saif Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu, Anand Tiwari and Vir Das.
“We will surely make the second and the third part soon. We are sitting on the ideas. We will also make a sequel to Go Goa Gone,” Raj and DK told during the interview.
A still from Stree
Talking about Stree, the film was set in the small town of Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh and revolved around an evil spirit named Stree who abducts men in the night during festival season. Reportedly, it was based on the urban legend of Nale Ba that went viral in Karnataka in the 1990s. The film produced by Dinesh Vijan, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, apart from Rajkummar and Shraddha, starred Pankaj Tripathi, Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Banerjee and went on to become one of the highest grossers of 2018. Reports stated that the same cast will be retained for the second part too.
