Director Mohit Suri's sister Ssmilly Suri, after making her Bollywood debut with Kalyug, stayed away from the limelight for quite a long time. The actress now turned choreographer took the route of dance and kept her acting career on hold. Soon, she tied the knot with her Salsa dance form mentor Vineet Bangera in 2014, with whom she participated in Nach Baliye. However, within just two years into their paradise, the couple separated and now, a month ago, their divorce was finalised. Talking to a leading daily, Ssmilly opened up about her troubled marriage and how things didn't seem to work for them. She told that the couple, who fell in love with each other during dance sessions, realised that their decision to get married was wrongly taken.
"Vineet was my Salsa teacher, and it’s easy to fall in love with your mentor, especially in a dance form, which is all about proximity. We connected over our passion for dance and mistook it for love. We realised that our decision was wrong only after marriage and staying under the same roof — our backgrounds and approach towards life was different," Ssmilly told.

She further added that despite trying to make her marriage work, nothing worked in favour of the couple. She told that despite her family members including Mohit and cousin Emraan Hashmi, it was too late for reconciliation. Ssmilly informed that Vineet left her in December 2016 and never came back. "I tried my best to make the marriage work but in vain. My family, too, including my brother Mohit Suri, cousin Emraan Hashmi, his wife Parveen and my aunt Kumkum Saigal, tried their best to mediate, only to realise that the cracks were too deep. When every attempt failed, they gave me the strength to face those trying times. Vineet left me in December 2016 and never came back. I guess he realised before me that our marriage wasn’t working," Ssmilly added.
"After that day when he left me, I met him directly on the day I acquired the divorce decree. We didn’t speak to each other, but I wish him well. I hope that we bury our differences someday and dance together again. I want to be friends with him now," Ssmilly concluded.
Ssmilly was last seen in the television serial Jodha Akbar in 2013 as Emperor Akbar's first wife Ruqaiyya Begum.
