From the makers of The Man Who Knew Infinity, comes another riveting story, The Warrior Queen of Jhansi. An iconic film based on the true story Rani Lakshmibai, the story for the world to still discover in its entirety. The film brings to life the story of one of the most poignant queens of the country, one that broke all barriers to fight for the freedom of her country.
Starring Devika Bhise in the titular, the first trailer of historical epic was unveiled on Tuesday depicts the true historical story of Rani Lakshmibai, touted as a 'feminist icon' and a 'fearless freedom fighter'. It also stars Rupert Everett, Nathaniel Parker, Ben Lamb, Jodhi May, and Derek Jacobi. It focusses on how the Queen of Jhansi leads her army of fierce women against the East India Company 'earning the reputation as the Joan of Arc of the East'. When her strategy is frowned upon, she retorts by saying, "I will train them to fight better than men." Towards the end, the trailer shifts to the revolutionary battle, as she encourages her battalion, "We will fight for what is ours, and we will win."
The Warrior Queen of Jhansi is directed by the veteran Swati Bhise and is slated to release in India in November 2019.
