After confirming a film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Alia Bhatt to start shooting for his next 'Gangubai Kothewali' in mid-October?

The scrapping of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Inshallah starring Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt came across as a major surprise to the fans of the actors, who were waiting with bated breathe for the film to take off. However, owing to 'creative differences' between Sanjay and Salman, the film failed to see the daylight. But, there didn't put an end to Alia's dream of collaborating with the filmmaker. As per reports, the actress has bagged the lead role in Sanjay's film based on the brothel owner Gangubai Kothewali. And now, as per the latest development, an entertainment portal report suggests the film is going on floors in mid- October. The report also suggested Sanjay will make a formal announcement post the shraddh period.

"Sanjay Leela Bhansali is working dedicatedly on the pre-production, music and in giving final touches to the script. Alia has also got the brief and she too is putting all the effort in understanding the part. Bhansali wants to formally announce the project but he’s waiting for the shraddh period to end and it’s considered to be an inauspicious time. Once the said period ends on September 28, a grand announcement will be made. The film will go on floors in mid-October and shooting is expected to end by February,” a source close to the film informed the entertainment portal.

However, neither Alia nor Sanjay have given a positive nod to the rumours, but the actress, during interaction with media during the recently held IIFA Awards 2019, dropped in a hint at working with the filmmaker soon. Well, whether the project is Gangubai Kothewali or something else, let's allow Alia and Sanjay to answer.

Speaking of Gangubai Kothewali, she was one of the most dreaded brothel owners of Kamathipura – the red light area of Mumbai. A madam who ran many brothels, Gangubai is regarded as an idol who fought for the rights of prostitutes and worked towards the protection of many such women who were forced into the sex trade.
